Planed Tongue and Groove Wood Flooring
Planed tongue and groove wood flooring (PTG) is a type of flooring that uses the most common joining method; each board in tongue and groove flooring has a protruding tongue on one side and an indented groove on the other, so it fits easily with the board next to it.
The tongue and groove format is the most cost effective fitting method, a good deal cheaper than the newer and more sophisticated “click” system, which is one of the main reasons that it is more commonly used. Because it is the most common fitting system, there are also far more types of wood available with tongue and groove.
What Is Micro Bevelled PTG Flooring?
A micro-bevel is a small edge (normally around 1mm) which is cut at 45 degrees along the length of the board. Once two boards are pushed together this creates a small V groove.
Micro-bevelled American ash flooring is often preferred by those who are looking for a more natural looking floor. The small micro-bevels help to create a subtle distinction between each individual board, showcasing their own individual character. For installations where the sub floor is not completely level, micro bevelled flooring can help to hide any minor uneven patches.
What Is Square Edged PTG Flooring?
Square edged oak flooring boards simply push together at 90 degrees.
Square edged flooring is for those looking for a complete seamless finish from their oak flooring. Each individual board will blend into one another, creating a much more uniform, single floor space. A square edged oak flooring is perfect for those more contemporary and formal properties.
